A mirror.
Standing at attention as you stare
Not ready for what it bring forth to your glare
Is that what you see really there?
Are you strong enough for the burden you will bare?
A mirror.
An inanimate object
Before it, displays a subject
Do you see what you will rejoice or may regret
Will what you witness put your life on a set?
A mirror.
The pathway allowing your internals to interrogate
A mirage brings upon one, the inkling to hallucinate
Have you forgotten this object is inanimate
I hope to see you again before you fall late
The mirror.
Like the still waters of a lake
Let it all sink in with every mistake you make
For the false illusions will deliver you with heartache
Should you risk who you wish to be for my sake?
Our mirror.
My opposite; you stare dead into me
Oh but destined you are to smile, only internally,
Beyond what others may see
Although the surface is the place I may be
It is who may only reside externally.

What does accountability look like in your community?
As thought leaders, change-makers, and teachers, how do we ensure that we nurture the whole child?
